Dentures are removable appliance that can replace missing teeth and help to restore your smile. Dentures are made from a variety of dental materials including acrylic, nylon, porcelain, resin or metal , lucitone.
Types of denture-
- Complete denture – This type of denture refer to a full replacement of both upper and lower sets of teeth. A complete full or conventional denture sits on the gums. These dentures are removable. Denture teeth are made of acrylic or porcelain.
- Partial denture – When a patient has a few teeth missing a dentist may replace them with partial dentures. A removable partial denture consist of replacement teeth attached to a pink colored base.
- Custom denture – Custom denture are specifically designed to suit your smile and preferences. These dentures are costly as they are custom made for a more natural looking smile.
- Immediate denture – These are pre-designed dentures that can be placed in your mouth immediately after teeth extraction has taken place. The purpose of these denture is to replace the missing teeth during the healing process. They are easily refitted.
- Implant supported denture – An implant supported denture is a solid foundation that serves an artificial root for your missing teeth. Implant ensure that you have natural looking dentures that feel secure.
- Overdenture – An overdenture is a removable type of denture that sits atop of the gums supported by dental implant. It can be placed on the lower jaw (mandible) or upper jaw (maxillary) depending on the patients need.
